When hundreds of community leaders showed up to the DCBIA Community Improvement Day, Hercules Fence was also there!
Hercules Fence of Washington, DC recently participated in the 23rd Annual Community Improvement Day held by the District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA). The DCBIA is a professional association that represents both the commercial and residential real estate industries in the nation’s capital. There are approximately 500 companies and organizations in the organization. This association provides members with the chance to engage all the aspects of real estate development and allows them to get to know the communities leaders in development, contracting, engineering, law, and brokering. Once a year, these individuals, companies, and organizations give back to the Washington, DC community. Let’s take a look at this event as well as how Hercules Fence of Washington, DC was involved!
About the Event
This event is held every year and started in 1992 as a way for the members of the DCBIA to give back to the community. This event was held on September 26th and gave local and national sponsors a day to give back to the Washington, DC community. This year’s event was used to plant a three acre urban farm that features a garden, nature trail, and plaza. The land was donated by the D.C. Housing Authority and was the perfect blank space for this project. The produce planted on site will include kale and other fresh vegetables. The produce grown will be shared in part by a food truck that drives around Ward 7.
The 23rd Annual Improvement Day
This year marks the 23rd annual community improvement day and Hercules Fence was a proud participant. This year, Hercules Fence mobilized and installed approximately 200 feet of four foot high pressure treated wood picket fencing. The fence is installed directly opposite the District Heights Metro Station and across from the new Capitol Gateway Apartments. Hercules Fence mobilized a week prior to the event in order to set up the posts for the new fencing. On the Improvement Day, the fence pickets were installed. The donated fence values at $10,000 and runs along South Capitol Street.
